The period was marked by continuing political tension in the context of the national elections held on 29 July 2018, including restrictions on the enjoyment of civil and political rights. At the same time, positive developments occurred, including adoption of the Cambodian Sustainable Development Goals framework and economic growth contributing to improvements in economic and social rights. OHCHR continued its programme of technical cooperation with partners in Cambodia in key areas, including strengthening the rule of law and protecting fundamental freedoms, economic, social and cultural rights and the rights of people in detention. * The present report was submitted after the deadline in order to reflect the most recent developments.
