II. ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA AND ORGANIZATION OF WORK
A. Opening and duration of the session
1.
The Human Rights Council held its fifth session at the United Nations Office at
Geneva from 11 to 18 June 2007 (see also paragraph 8 below). It held nine meetings (see
A/HRC/5/SR.1-9)* during the session.

The session was opened by Mr. Luis Alfonso de Alba, President of the Human Rights
Council.
3.
At the 1st meeting, on 11 June 2007, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human
Rights, Ms. Louise Arbour, addressed the Council.
B. Attendance
4.
The session was attended by representatives of States members of the Council, observers
for non-member States of the Council, observers for non-member States of the United Nations
and other observers, as well as observers for United Nations entities, specialized agencies, and
related organizations, intergovernmental organizations and other entities, national human rights
institutions and non-governmental organizations. An attendance list is given in annex III to the
present report.
C. Adoption of the agenda

At the same meeting, the Council considered the provisional agenda (A/HRC/5/1) as
proposed by the President. The agenda was adopted without a vote. For the text as adopted, see
annex I to the report.
* Summary records of each of the meetings are subject to correction. They are considered final
with the issuance of a consolidated corrigendum (A/HRC/5/SR.1-9/Corrigendum).
