for Human Rights*
Summary
Against the backdrop of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, which
poses an unprecedented challenge to all humanity, the seventy-fifth anniversary of the
United Nations and the 100th anniversary of the League of Nations, in the present report,
the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights appeals to the international
community to renew its collective commitment to act on multilateral solutions to global
problems, international solidarity and cooperation, as enshrined in the Charter of the United
Nations. Likewise, she calls on all States to reaffirm their commitment to the universality
of human rights; across all political and economic systems, all States share a common
obligation to respect all human rights – civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights,
including the right to development.
