Principles, both in law and in practice.

The Secretary-General welcomes the development of general observations by
the International Coordinating Committee, serving as an additional and progressive
interpretative tool of the Paris Principles. The Secretary-General particularly
welcomes the general observation on the interaction between NHRIs and the

in order to ensure greater harmonization between the international and national
human rights systems.
22.
The Secretary-General welcomes the active participation of NHRIs in the
regional consultations organized by OHCHR together with the African Union, the
Organization of American States and the Council of Europe on enhancing cooperation
between regional and international human rights mechanisms in 2009, and calls on
NHRIs to redouble their efforts in enhancing cooperation and dialogue with regional
human rights mechanisms and in follow-up to the latter’s recommendations.
23.
The Secretary-General welcomes the continuing work of the regional networks
of NHRIs in Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, and Europe and encourages
greater cooperation between the regional networks and OHCHR. The SecretaryGeneral particularly welcomes the plan to develop a multi-year cooperation
framework between OHCHR and the Asia-Pacific Forum, in support to NHRIs in the
region.
