Grenada welcomes these recommendations. Due to the
inextricable link that exist between sustainable
development and human rights; Government has
implemented through its Ministry of Climate Resilience a
series of initiatives to ensure that its vulnerable citizens
are considered in its plans to respond to natural disasters
and emergency situations. In fact, Grenada’s National
Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) has initiated
retrofitting of Emergency shelters to allow persons with
disabilities access to these buildings if the need arises.

Grenada accepts these recommendations, noting that it has
benefited from regional as well as international funding to
strengthen infrastructure and community resilience to
climate change. Additionally, Grenada became the first
CARICOM country to approve a National Adaptation Plan
(NAP), a tool introduced by the United Nations
Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) as
a way for countries to reduce their vulnerability to the
impacts of climate change by building adaptive capacity
and resilience.
