to San Marino when, for various reasons, they are not in a position to return to their countries.
In this regard, the applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
571. With regard to the recommendation on the participation in humanitarian initiatives,
the Government is willing to assess the actions to be taken on a case-by-case basis, as already
happened in 2016 with the accession to the Humanitarian Corridors Project of Sant'Egidio
Community. However, it is not in a position to commit to permanently supporting such
projects.
572. San Marino has also taken note of the recommendations relating to the fight against
trafficking in human beings, but, since there are currently no cases in San Marino, the
adoption of a specific regulatory framework in this matter is not considered necessary. San
Marino would rather prefer to devote attention and resources to the administrative activity
already undertaken to monitor the situation.
573. There has not yet been an in-depth debate on adoptions of children by same-sex
couples and it was therefore preferred to take note of the recommendations on this issue.
574. Finally, San Marino has only partially accepted recommendation no. 119. 101. Indeed,
the Government does not consider it necessary to set up a special section for minors since
this task is already carried out by specialised judges within the Court. However, the
possibility of establishing a counselling centre for separated parents with children will be
seriously considered.
