Extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions

In its resolution 35/15, the Human Rights Council decided to extend the mandate of
the Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions for three years
and requested the Special Rapporteur, in carrying out the mandate, to continue to examine
situations of extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions in all circumstances and for
whatever reason, and to submit her findings on an annual basis, together with conclusions
and recommendations. The Council will consider the reports of the mandate holder, Agnès
Callamard (A/HRC/44/38 and Add.1).
Independence of judges and lawyers

In its resolution 35/11, the Human Rights Council decided to extend the mandate of
the Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers for a period of three
years. The Council will consider the reports of the mandate holder, Diego García-Sayán
(A/HRC/44/47 and Add.1–2).
Freedom of opinion and expression

Subject to the adoption of the draft resolution of the Human Rights Council entitled
“Freedom of opinion and expression: mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the promotion
and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression” (A/HRC/43/L.2) at its
resumed forty-third session, the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the
right to freedom of opinion and expression will submit an annual report to the Council
covering all activities relating to the mandate. The Council will consider the reports of the
mandate holder, David Kaye (A/HRC/44/49 and Add.1–2 and 4).
Rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association

In its resolution 41/12, the Human Rights Council decided to renew the mandate of
the Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association for
a period of three years and requested the Special Rapporteur to continue to report annually
to the Council. The Council will consider the reports of the mandate holder, Clément
Nyaletsossi Voule (A/HRC/44/50 and Add.1–3).
Rights of peoples, and of specific groups and individuals
Elimination of discrimination against women

In its resolution 6/30, the Human Rights Council decided to incorporate into its
programme of work sufficient and adequate time, at minimum an annual full-day meeting,
to discuss the human rights of women, including measures that could be adopted by States
and other stakeholders to address human rights violations experienced by women. The
Council will hold a full-day discussion thereon (see annex).

In its resolution 40/5, the Human Rights Council requested the High Commissioner
to prepare a report on the intersection of race and gender discrimination in sports, including
in policies, regulations and practices of sporting bodies, and elaborating on relevant
international human rights norms and standards, and to present the report to the Council at
its forty-fourth session. The Council will have before it the report of the High
Commissioner (A/HRC/44/26) (see para. 25 above).

In its resolution 38/6, the Human Rights Council requested the High Commissioner,
in close collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund, the World Health
Organization, UN-Women and other United Nations specialized agencies, funds and
programmes, international human rights mechanisms and civil society organizations, to
organize a two-day meeting to discuss progress, gaps and challenges in the application of
human rights norms, standards and principles to the measures taken by State and non-State
actors to prevent and eliminate female genital mutilation in different contexts, including in
the context of communities, humanitarian assistance and migration and other population
movements, and to submit a report on the outcome of the above-mentioned meeting at the
forty-fourth session of the Council. The Council will have before it the report on the
meeting, held on 17 and 18 July 2019 (A/HRC/44/33) (see para. 26 above).
