Report of the Special Rapporteur on violence against women,
its causes and consequences to Argentina: comments by the
State*
Response to recommendations
1.
Regarding official data on the number of women in detention: the Federal
Penitentiary Service reports that by 2016 740 women (representing 7.03% of the total
inmate population) were detained in federal prisons in Argentina 1.
2.
The number of State-run shelters by November 2016 was 87 not 25 2
3.
Although there was document named “National Action Plan 2014-2016 presented by
the former administration in November 2015, such document was not an action plan given
the lack of budget allocated, log frame matrix and policy lines defined. In addition, footnote
number 67 refers to the current National Action Plan 2017-2016
