We also organized an expert consultation on “The right to education of persons with disabilities”, which took place in Geneva from 23 to 24 November 2007, to provide input to the thematic annual report of the Special Rapporteur on the right to education. I look forward to supporting both the work of the new Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the efforts of States to ratify and implement the new Convention and its Optional Protocol. VI. CONCLUSION 69. As the report outlines, OHCHR has made important advances in implementing its Strategic Management Plan. The Office supported the Human Rights Council in its transition year, while continuing its efforts to implement its identified priorities from the Plan of Action. Greater country engagement in all its aspects, and strengthened thematic expertise in key areas, have been highlighted as part of our efforts to best address human rights challenges before us. -----
