A/HRC/38/31 Report of the team of international experts on the situation in Kasaï Summary The team of international experts is shocked by the extent of the violence that has killed thousands and by the catastrophic human rights situation that has prevailed in the Kasaï region since 2016. The present report sets out information on just a small portion of the acts and crimes that have been committed. The team is also concerned about the low level of attention given to this tragedy and the lack of means engaged to bring it to an end. The team confirms that the defence and security forces, the Kamuina Nsapu militia and the Bana Mura militias have committed numerous atrocities, including many cases of sexual violence and abusive treatment of children that can be qualified as crimes against humanity or war crimes. The team is deeply concerned about the humanitarian situation, with the displacement of an estimated 1.4 million people, whose situation remains extremely precarious. In the light of the magnitude and gravity of the crimes that have been committed, there remains a very serious problem of impunity. A serious judicial investigation must be carried out for the perpetrators of these crimes to be brought to justice and judged and for the rights of the victims to be restored. 2 GE.18-10936
