At the 23rd meeting, on 24 September, the representative of Egypt (on behalf of the African Group) introduced draft resolution A/HRC/9/L.2, sponsored by Egypt (on behalf of the African Group) and France (on behalf of the European Union) and co-sponsored by Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. 170. Subsequently, Australia, Japan, the Republic of Moldova, Switzerland, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Turkey joined the sponsors. 171. In introducing the resolution, Egypt (on behalf of the African Group) made oral revisions to paragraphs 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 12, 14, 15, 19, deleted the fourth preambular paragraph and paragraph 13 and inserted a new paragraph 13. 172. A general comment before the vote was made by the representative of France (on behalf of the European Union). 173. The representative of the Sudan made a statement as the concerned country. 174. In accordance with rule 153 of the rules of procedure of the General Assembly, the attention of the Council was drawn to the estimated administrative and programme budget implications of the draft resolution. 175.
