Some participants suggested that the APT lead this initiative. • Discuss ways to improve the OPCAT Contact Group which is strategic to interact with the SPT and other regional bodies, as well as to jointly assess the implementation of the OPCAT. • Trying to replicate in the negotiation of other treaties the important role played by civil society organizations in the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. It was also proposed to seek the creation of communication channels between NGOs specialized on torture and NGOs specialized on disability rights. 33
