The Council also requested that the workshop include a thematic discussion, based on concrete and practical experience of regional mechanisms, to share information on best practices, lessons learned and new possible forms of cooperation. In resolution 18/14, the Council requested the High Commissioner to present to the Council, at its twenty-second session, a report containing a summary of the discussions held at the workshop and of the progress towards the implementation of that resolution. From 12 to 14 December 2012, the Office of the High Commissioner (OHCHR) organized the workshop on the theme “Enhancing cooperation between United Nations and regional human rights mechanisms” in Geneva, with the participation of Member States, United Nations human rights mechanisms, regional mechanisms in Africa, the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
