Summary
The Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Cambodia, Rhona Smith,
provides an update on the human rights situation in Cambodia and analyses the human rights
implications of the ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. The socioeconomic
impact is particularly concerning. Restrictions in relation to democratic and civic space and
key issues expressed in previous reports remain unresolved. The Special Rapporteur provides
recommendations to address a number of human rights concerns.
