Report of the Special Rapporteur on the situation
of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran* **
Summary
In the present report, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the
Islamic Republic of Iran considers the developments in the situation of human rights since
the second interim report of the Special Rapporteur submitted to the General Assembly in
October 2012 (A/67/369).
The Special Rapporteur outlines his activities since the renewal by the Human
Rights Council of his mandate, examines ongoing issues and presents some of the most
recent and pressing developments in the country’s human rights situation. Although not
exhaustive, the report provides a picture of the prevailing situation as observed in the
preponderance of reports submitted to and examined by the Special Rapporteur. It is
envisaged that a number of important issues not covered in the present report will be
addressed in future reports to be submitted by the Special Rapporteur to the General
Assembly and the Council.
* Late submission.
