I. WORKING METHODS AND ACTIVITIES
A. Working methods
1.
In its resolution 7/13 the Human Rights Council requested the Special Rapporteur
to submit a report on the implementation of her mandate to the Council in accordance with
its annual programme of work. The present report is submitted in response to that
request.
2.
This report focuses on child pornography on the Internet. It is based on information
submitted to the Special Rapporteur through a questionnaire sent to Governments, international
organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the private sector in March 2009, as
well as on other research undertaken by the Special Rapporteur.
3.
In the questionnaire the Special Rapporteur requested information on the scope and forms
of child pornography, existing legislation and initiatives to prevent and combat child
pornography on the Internet.
4.
The Special Rapporteur would like to thank warmly all those who responded. Only a
selection of the wealth of experiences and initiatives on which information was received is
outlined in this report.
