Report of the Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all human rights
by older persons*, **
Summary
The Secretariat has the honour to transmit to the Human Rights Council the report of
the Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all human rights by older persons, Rosa
Kornfeld-Matte, on her mission to Mozambique from 24 April to 2 May 2019. The main
objective of the visit was to identify both best practices and gaps in the implementation of
existing laws relating to the promotion and protection of the rights of older persons. In her
report, the Independent Expert assesses the implementation of existing international
instruments, laws and policies pertaining to the enjoyment of all human rights by older
persons in Mozambique. Based on information gathered prior to, during and after the visit,
the Independent Expert analyses the challenges faced in the realization of all human rights
by older persons, paying particular attention to ostracized persons and groups.
* The summary of the report is being circulated in all official languages. The report itself, which is
annexed to the summary, is being circulated in the language of submission.
