Thematic area 9: Climate adaptation plan/build climate resilience 94.68, 94.69 Accepted Grenada welcomes these recommendations. Due to the inextricable link that exist between sustainable development and human rights; Government has implemented through its Ministry of Climate Resilience a series of initiatives to ensure that its vulnerable citizens are considered in its plans to respond to natural disasters and emergency situations. In fact, Grenada’s National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) has initiated retrofitting of Emergency shelters to allow persons with disabilities access to these buildings if the need arises. 94.70, 94.71, 94.72 Accepted Grenada accepts these recommendations, noting that it has benefited from regional as well as international funding to strengthen infrastructure and community resilience to climate change. Additionally, Grenada became the first CARICOM country to approve a National Adaptation Plan (NAP), a tool introduced by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) as a way for countries to reduce their vulnerability to the impacts of climate change by building adaptive capacity and resilience. Thematic area 10: Corporal punishment 94.80, 94.136, 94.137, 94.138 Noted Grenada notes these recommendations. Government will engage in public awareness to discourage the practice; highlighting that this requires a fundamental policy shift and public consultation. Thematic area 11: Improvement of penitentiary system 94.81 Accepted Grenada supports this recommendation. Thematic area 12: Protection of journalists/freedom of information 94.82, 94.83, 94.84, 94.85 Accepted Thematic area 13: Gender equality 4 Grenada supports these recommendations. In 2007, Grenada drafted its Freedom of Information Act with a view to protecting the rights of its citizen to access public information.
