A/HRC/35/13 the light of the adverse effects of climate change. Investments in education and related infrastructure are a rights-based, cost-effective and sustainable method of empowering children. Health, water and sanitation, housing infrastructure and related services are also critical to children’s adaptation and resilience. Disaster risk reduction, including training for teachers, parents and children, and climate-resilient schools and infrastructure, is another key area for investment. In the aftermath of climate-related disasters, resources should be devoted to ensure children’s access to health services, to reunite children with their families and to not only protect them with physical support, such as food and clean water, but also to provide psychosocial care to prevent or address fear and traumas. 83 Support should take into account children’s distinct needs for play and safety. 83 18 See Committee on the Rights of the Child, general comment No. 15, para. 40.
