Situation of human rights in Colombia

Summary
In the present report, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights
describes the human rights situation in Colombia in 2019, focusing on the situation of
human rights defenders, the use of the military in situations relating to public security, the
fight against impunity, and inequalities in the enjoyment of economic, social and cultural
rights. The High Commissioner also assesses the implementation of the human rights
aspects of the peace agreement signed between the Government of Colombia and the
Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army (FARC-EP). In the report, the
High Commissioner puts forward recommendations to contribute to improving the human
rights situation.
