A/HRC/44/13/Add.1 94.25 Noted Grenada continues to review all treaties and human rights instruments intending to support those that are relevant to Grenada and are within our resource capacity. 94.26 Noted Although Grenada is willing to cooperate with all human rights mechanisms, we remain concerned with the burdens related to extending an open invitation to special procedure at this time. Thematic area 4: Right to life, liberty and security of the person/death penalty 94.15, 94.16, 94.17, 94.18, 94.19, 94.20, 94.74, 94.75, 94.76, 94.77, 94.78, 94.79 Noted Grenada notes these recommendations and draws attention to the fact that a de facto moratorium has been in place in Grenada since 1978. However, Government commits to continuing to engage the public as it pertains to the abolition of the death penalty since this requires fundamental policy change. 94.21, 94.22 Accepted Grenada supports these recommendations. 94.24 Noted Grenada notes this recommendation and commits to further review of the convention. 94.73 Accepted Grenada supports this recommendation. Accepted Grenada accepts these recommendations as it continues to make strides in implementing policies and Standard Operating Procedures that safeguard against human trafficking. Trafficking of persons 94.86, 94.88, 94.89 Thematic area 5: Children’s rights 94.23 Accepted Grenada welcomes this recommendation. 94.143 Accepted Grenada supports this recommendation as it persists in implementing further programs with a view of defending the rights of its youngest citizens; while encouraging the public to do the same. Thematic area 6: Institutional and human rights infrastructure and policy measures/national human rights institution 94.27, 94.28, 94.29 Accepted Grenada accepts these recommendations. The priority of Government to see that the human rights of its citizens are protected are not only enshrined in its constitution and protected by numerous pieces of legislation; but forms the basis of our National Sustainable Development Plan as Government’s plans for sustainable development are people-centric. Cabinet has since the last review commissioned a National Coordinating Committee to conceptualize the process for the establishment of the National Human Rights Institute. Additionally, the Committee will map out the follow-up process, ensure wide consultation, draft action plans and report to Cabinet. 94.30 Accepted Grenada supports this recommendation. 94.31, 94.32, 94.33, 94.34, 94.35, 94.36, 94.37, 94.38, 94.39, 94.40, 94.41 Accepted Grenada accepts these recommendations. Grenada has since the 2nd UPR review approved the creation of its National Humans Rights Institution. 3
